The 1st Technical Delegate Meeting for 2018 Asian Games held on Jakarta, Indonesia


On March 4, in Jakarta, Indonesia, Ms. Zhang Yuping, Technical Committee Chairperson of the Wushu Federation of Asia (“WFA”) and Asian Games Technical Delegate of the Wushu Event attended the 1st Technical Delegate Meeting for 2018 Asian Games together with Mr. Jin Xiaobing, Technical Committee Member of the International Wushu Federation (“IWUF”) and a staff member of the WFA Secretariat, accompanied by Mr. Henriyato, Asian Games Competition Manager of the Wushu Event.

During the meeting, the attended members from Olympic Council of Asia (“OCA”) and Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (“INASGOC”) include: Mr. Wei Jizhong, Honorary Life Vice President of the OCA, Mr. Haider Farman, Director of the OCA – Asian Games Department, Mr. Gatot S.Dewa Broto, Secretary of Indonesia Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Harry Warganegara, Acting Secretary General of the INASGOC, Mr. Lukman Niode, Vice Director of INASGOC Sports Department, representatives of the sports operations department of INASGOC, Technicla Delegate and representatives from Asian and International Sports Federation, venue managers and competition managers, with a total of 180 representatives.

Mr. Wei Jizhong, on behalf of the President of the OCA, expressed warm welcome to all delegates and pointed out that the cooperation between the technical representatives and the organizing committee was very important, including the basic principle of the competition specifications, arbitration, technical staff arrangements and accident report during the competition.

Mr. Haider Farman indicates that this would be the largest Asian Games ever, whereas the technical representatives and technical staff support affects the success of the entire Asian Games. He introduced the contents of the duties of all technical representatives, the eligibility of the athletes, the deadline for registration and the relevant regulations.

INASGOC operations department, venues department described the project venues, transportation and accommodation arrangements. The President of the Indonesia requested government departments at all levels to speed up the Asian Games preparation process, Mr. Gatot S. Dewabroto assured the participating technical representatives that all repairs and development work would be completed by the end of October this year.

The 18th Asian Games will be held from August 18 to September 2, 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, infour venues cluster. Test events  of 10 sports  will be held during October and November this year in Jakarta.

The Wushu sport event will be held at the Jakarta International Convention and Exhibition Center (JIExpo) from 19 to 23 August 2018. The WFA will continuously to cooperate with the Indonesia Wushu Association for the advancement to improve the technical handbook and the venue settings.

The 2nd Asian Games Technical Delegate Meeting is to be held in August 2017.
