The third day of the SJM 10th Asian Wushu Championships 2024 witnessed remarkable achievements, showcasing the brilliance of Asian wushu elites
As the SJM 10th Asian Wushu Championships 2024 entered its third day, the top athletes from the Asian wushu community continued to exhibit their exceptional prowess and refined skills on the arena.
In the Women's Taijiquan competition, Singapore's Zeanne Zhi Ning LAW extended her outstanding performance from the previous two days, clinching the gold medal with a high score of 9.716, demonstrating her strength and consistency. Hong Kong, China's Uen Ying Juanita MOK narrowly missed the top spot, securing the silver medal with just a 0.016-point difference. Her elegant moves and profound internal skills left a deep impression on everyone. Singapore's Vera Yan Ning TAN added another feather to her country's cap by winning the bronze medal.
In the Men's Taijijian event, Japanese athletes once again showcased their formidable strength. Tomohiro Araya and Ryo Murakami took home the gold and silver medals, respectively, with scores of 9.71 and 9.706. South Korea's Hyeongi An secured the bronze medal with an impressive score of 9.696.
The spotlight shone brightly on Hong Kong, China's athletes in the Men's Changquan competition. Yin Ching Ho captured the gold medal with a score of 9.713, wowing the audience with his powerful punches and strong rhythm. Malaysia's Muhammad Danish Aizad secured the silver medal with a mere 0.003-point margin, displaying his remarkable skills. Hong Kong, China's Jinsong Chen rounded out the podium with the bronze medal.
In the Women's Nangun event, Macau, China's Sam In Wong successfully defended her gold medal title with an outstanding performance, executing her staff techniques with grace and immense power. Malaysia's Cheong Min Tan and Uzbekistan's Darya Latisheva secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively, with commendable performances.
Capping off the day's competitions, China's Maoyuan Cao dominated the Men's Nangun event, earning the gold medal with impeccable performances. His exquisite staff techniques and imposing presence showcased the profoundness of Chinese wushu. Hong Kong, China's Chi Lung Lau and Macau, China's Jun Hua Huang took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
The afternoon's Sanda Unit 3 saw a total of 26 semifinal matches, with athletes from various weight categories in both men's and women's divisions displaying their solid practical skills and relentless fighting spirit.
In the women's division, Chinese athletes Yuxia Du, Mengyue Chen, Xiaoyu Zhang, and Xinru Dai, along with India's Aparna and Namrata Batra, Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hien, and Iran's Sedigheh Dariaeivarkadeh and Soheila Mansourian Semiromi, advanced to the finals in the 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, and 65kg categories, respectively.
The men's division witnessed fierce competition, with several matches going down to the wire, adding excitement to the Championships. Philippine's Russel Diaz, Arnel Mandal, and Clemente Jr Tabugara advanced to the finals in the 48kg, 52kg, and 65kg categories, respectively, and will face off against India's Kushal Kumar, Vietnam's Dinh Van Tam, and Kazakhstan's Bexultan Koskenov. China's Panshi Liang, Kangle Wu, and Hongwei Lin will compete in the 60kg, 70kg, and 75kg finals against Iran's Amirhossein Hemati, Vietnam's Truong Van Chuong, and India's Vikrant Baliyan. Kazakhstan's Karim Iminzhanov versus Vietnam's Hua Van Doan, and Iran's Ali Khorshidirabie versus Hong Kong, China's Weijin Li, will vie for the gold and silver medals in the 56kg and 80kg categories.
With today's matches concluded, the finalists in each weight category have been determined, and they will engage in intense battles for the championship honors in the upcoming rounds.
