(Songyuan, China, June 28, 2025) — The "2025 Asian Wushu Training Course" officially commenced at 9:00 AM today in the Grand Ballroom of Songyuan City Hotel. Jointly organized by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA), and co-hosted by the Chinese Wushu Association, Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau, and Songyuan People’s Government, the training course gathered over 100 wushu coaches, judges, and expert instructors from 15 Asian countries and regions by the Chagan Lake for a five-day journey of wushu cultural exchange and technical improvement.
The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Chan Weng Kit, President of the Wushu Federation of Asia and Vice President of the International Wushu Federation; Choy Ching Chi, Vice Chaiman of the WFA Technical Committee; Zheng Nan, Director of the Wushu Taolu Department of the Chinese Wushu Association; Li Xiuli, Deputy Director of the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau’s Ping-Pong, Hockey, Basketball, and Wushu Sports Management Center; and Pan Zhaoshuang, Director of the Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau of Songyuan City.
In her welcome address, Li Xiuli stated, "As the host, Songyuan has spared no effort to create a serious yet comfortable learning environment, from theoretical classrooms to simulated competition venues, and from high-standard accommodation to immersive cultural experiences. We hope participants will not only gain professional growth but also appreciate Songyuan’s natural beauty and cultural charm during their stay."
Pan Zhaoshuang highlighted that Songyuan is not only rich in historical and cultural heritage, strong ethnic customs, and beautiful natural landscapes but also a treasure land for wushu inheritance. He thanked the organizers for their trust in Songyuan and introduced the preparation of the training course.
Adhering to the principles of simplicity, environmental protection, functional priority, and considerate service, Songyuan has carefully prepared the event to create the most comfortable learning environment for participants from all countries.
Zheng Nan elaborated on the course’s organization, noting that since the organizing committee’s establishment in November 2024, cross-departmental collaboration has focused on top-tier design, resource integration, and a "competition + training + culture" tripartite model. "This course aims to become Asia’s premier platform for competitive wushu events, judges and coach training, and cultural exchange, blending wushu’s cultural essence with contemporary spirit," he said.
Choy Ching Chi, outlining the curriculum, stated, "The course combines theoretical study and practical training to deepen participants’ understanding of the 2024 revised international wushu competition rules, judging methods, and scientific training philosophies." He urged attendees to "study diligently, practice actively, and elevate Asia’s wushu standards collectively."
Chan Weng Kit expressed gratitude to all contributing parties and set three expectations for participants: "Approach learning with humility and an open mind, integrate rules into practice, and inherit the mission and carrying forward the legacy of Asian wushu culture." He then declared the official opening of the “2025 Asian Wushu Training Course”.
The training course is held from June 28 to July 2 and covers four categories—Taolu Coach, Taolu Judge, Sanda Coach, and Sanda Judge—featuring a curriculum designed by renowned domestic and international experts. It includes theoretical modules on wushu fundamentals, competition rules, anti-doping knowledge, and practical sessions on specialized techniques, referee scoring protocols, and command gestures. The 1st Wushu Taolu Asian Cup and the 2nd Wushu Sanda Asian Cup will be held in Songyuan City consecutively after the training course.
