To further strengthen sports integrity and fair play, the “Online Seminar on Prevention of the Manipulation of Competition (PMC)”, jointly organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA), was successfully held in the evening of June 30. Adopting a hybrid model of offline centralized learning and online instruction, the seminar saw all participants gather at the Seaview ballroom of the Haikou West Coast Hotel, while the keynote speaker, Mr. Jamyang Namgyal, Manager of the Athletes Department at the OCA, delivered the lecture via Zoom. The event attracted over 160 representatives from more than 35 countries and regions, including international technical officials slated to officiate at the wushu competitions of the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September, as well as trainees currently attending the “2026 IWUF International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Course” in Haikou, China.
Focusing on the core theme of preventing competition manipulation, the seminar aimed to comprehensively protect the integrity of sports, ensuring that every match remains fair, free from manipulation, and decided solely by athletic performance. The session introduced the IOC/ Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions to the wushu judges. Furthermore, it educated the participants with the ability to recognize, prevent, and report any attempts to manipulate competitions. Through this training, the WFA hope to foster a strong culture of integrity across Asia, effectively safeguarding the fairness, credibility, and true spirit of sport in Wushu.
As a significant extension of the tripartite cooperation between the OCA, IWUF, and WFA, this seminar not only fortifies the defenses for fair play ahead of the upcoming Asian Games but also injects higher standards of professional ethics into the global wushu judging system. This initiative holds profound significance for the sustainable development of wushu in Asia.
