Nagoya Asian Games | 9.21 Sanda Results

The 1/8 finals for various men's and women's weight categories in Sanda commenced at 18:00 Japan Time. Athletes from countries and regions across Asia took to the platform to compete; many successfully advanced, while others struggled to perform to their full potential in the opening round.

Among tonight's matches, several unexpected defeats stood out as the biggest surprises. In the Women's 60kg category, Rahimi Diana (IRI) faced Zhang Xiaoyu (CHN) of the Chinese team, regretfully exiting the 1/8 finals after a fierce two-round battle that ended 0:2. As a regular on the international circuit and a medalist in multiple major events, Rahimi's failure to advance this year is a great disappointment. Meanwhile, in the Men's 56kg event, Babylon Carlos Jr. (PHI)was unable to find his usual rhythm, ultimately falling 0:2 to Dinh Van Tam (VIE) and missing out on the top eight. Both athletes possess illustrious track records on continental and international Wushu Sanda platforms, yet both encountered strong opponents in their Asian Games debut and were eliminated.

Tonight's Sanda events showcased the exceptionally high level of competitive skill among Asian Wushu athletes. The Wushu Federation of Asia remains committed to driving the development of Wushu Sanda. All participating athletes fully demonstrated sportsmanship and high technical mastery on the platform, kicking off the Sanda competition for this edition of the Asian Games.
