On April 23, Chief Executive Chui Sai On had a meeting with the President of Wushu Federation of Asia Fok Chun Wan at the Government Headquarters, and other representatives to exchange views on promoting Wushu as Chinese culture and how to raise the level of Wushu sports in the Asian region.
After the work presentation on new direction of Wushu Federation of Asia by its President Fok Chun Wan and the Secretary-Genera Chan Weng Kit, Chief Executive accepted the invitation to participate the opening ceremony of the secretariat in Macau.
Fok Chun Wan indicates that after the re-election of the Federation in 2014, the Federation aims to strengthen Wushu cooperation between Macau and Hong Kong and at the same time, to articulate national policies, taking advantage of opportunities of the "one belt, one road" strategy to promote the principles of the Chinese Traditional Wushu and inherent in Chinese culture in Asia. He pointed out that Wushu is getting more attention, and through cooperation and exchange, it raises the standard level of Wushu Sports in the region.
Fok Chun Wan thanked the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region for their support in the planning to set up the secretariat and the development of wushu. The Federation will be launched the Asian Junior Wushu Training Course this year in July to implement and promote the development of Wushu.
Chief Executive expressed attention to the development of Wushu in Asian region as well as in Macau, ensuring that the government will support sports and athletes. He would like to see more attention in Wushu, especially in Chinese Traditional Wushu where it has a long history in Macao and should therefore strengthen its promotion. He believes that Wushu Federation of Asia will be able to intensify the exchange between Macau and Hong Kong and to continuously promote the development of Wushu in Asia.
