Success End of the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships


After the Opening Ceremony of August 19, the first day events of competition at the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships started with Boy’s and Girl’s Dual Events (Duilian). In the Boy’s Dual Event, Majdurano Joel bin Majallah Sain and Mohammad Safiee Shayferan Bin Roslan from Brunei withstood the first round of the championships with a score of 9.55, whereas Hong Kong scored 9.35 and Chinese Taipei 9.31, winning first gold medal in the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships.

Immediately followed by Girl’s Dual Event, Shuangqi Nur Batrisyia Ripin and Dexuan Ling from Brunei faced strong team and have won the second gold medal with 9.33, Hong Kong silver medalist with 9.30 and Iran bronze medalist 9.23.

The two awards in the morning were presented by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei and President of the Wushu Federation of Asia Mr. Fok Chun Wan. 

The Routine (Taolu) competition continues at 14:30.

20 Sanda competitions will be carried on at 19:00, and this is the first Sanda competition held in Brunei Darussalam. Prior the event, the organizing committee have broadcast an introduction of the Sanda to deepen the understanding of the event to the local people. It is worth mentioning that, unlike the past having the Sanda awarding ceremony on the last day of the event, each day there will be awarding ceremony after the Sanda competition. The first gold medal in this year's Asian Junior Championship in Sanda was awarded to Soheil Mousavi from Iran defeating Zhao Chunhang from China in the children's group 56 kg category.

The five-day event was completed in the afternoon of August 23. There were in total 8 Routines and 5 Sanda units in this championship, issued a total of 56 and 16 gold medals respectively.

After the competition, the organizing committee arranged a closing ceremony dinner event inviting all participating teams. In particular, the President of the National Olympic Council of Brunei Darussalam HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and his daughter, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak ‘Aliiyah Amalul Bulqiah, were invited as the honorary guests. At the dinner, the President of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Md Firdaus Abdul Rahman and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin delivered speeches respectively, thanking all the units, staffs and participating teams for their support and contribution to the event. 

At last, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam announced the successful conclusion of the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships.
