In his opening remarks, Mr. Chan Weng Kit, President of WFA, stated, “The Asian Wushu Championships represent the highest level of wushu competition, second only to the Asian Games. This event serves as a platform for Asian Wushu athletes to showcase their prowess, fostering cultural exchanges in the field of wushu and marking a significant milestone in the sport’s development in the Asian region. After an eight-year hiatus following the 9th Asian Wushu Championships held in Taoyuan in 2016, the successful organisation of this year’s event owes much to the active support from all sectors. Special thanks go to the Macao Special Administrative Region Government for its promotion and guidance; and to SJM for its co-organisation and title-sponsorship, which laid a solid foundation for the event’s success.”

Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, expressed, “SJM is passionately committed to fostering a platform for martial arts excellence through supporting this regional event. Our aim is to promote the virtues inherent in this traditional art form and preserve its rich heritage, thereby upholding Macau’s unique position as ‘a base for exchange and co-operation where Chinese culture prevails and diverse cultures coexist.’ As a pivotal force in Macau’s tourism and leisure industry, SJM remains dedicated to continually enriching the destination’s allure. Just as martial arts require a harmonious balance of internal and external developments, SJM invests in both our hardware and software advantages. That means beyond our portfolio of five-star facilities, we proactively organise a myriad of exciting events, such as dragon boat races, dance festivals, and lantern art exhibitions. These initiatives enable us to leverage ‘Tourism+’ synergies, solidifying Macau’s reputation as a ‘World Centre of Tourism and Leisure’ and ‘City of Sport.’”

During the ceremony, 12 members of the China Wushu Team delivered a captivating performance at The Grand Pavilion. After that, WFA presented commemorative gifts to co-organisers, organisers, sponsors, and supporting units, including MSB, SJM and WGAM . Members of the Organizing Committee distributed souvenirs to the performing athletes and participating teams as a token of appreciation. Representatives of referees and athletes took their oath to ensure fairness, impartiality and transparency in this competition. Subsequently, the Guests of Honour kicked off the championships with a ceremonial drumroll.
